Andy Warhol is a famous artist of 20th century - paintings of soup cans, marilyn Monroe pop art portraits. worked in lots of different areas, he started as a commercial artist in 1950 producing illustrations for adverts and magazines and then was painting, photography, film, tv programmes, magazines, adverts, produced bands and designed record covers.
In his illustrations he uses water colours, giving a simple block of colour; he then adds the black line giving the outline shape and the details as we can see, for example, in his famous shoes (below). He gives more importance to the silhouette of the piece (the lady in the blue dress is an example), the colour and the detail (for example the detail of the shoes), and his work is quick, he only takes more time in the details.
